Shopping at the mall!
Last Monday at Grandpa’s, we had this stuff called membryo. I
actually like it. I think it tastes pretty good. It is some kind of fruit made
into an applesauce thing. I hated it the first time we had it, because it
wasn’t sweet but this time I loved it! We got to go sign these doors outside of
his house. He has a wooden door outside of his house that all the missionaries
sign when they come to this area.
We finally went to the mall last Monday! I was so happy J We went to Forever 21 and a few other places. The WalMart in El Paso has to be one of the busiest places I have ever been. Hermana Fallentine heard that it was one of the busiest ones out there. It was out of control. You just want to leave when you are there…so stressful. Of course the last two weeks have been the eves of holidays so it kind of makes sense. We tried stoppying by Bobby and Connie’s on Monday, but they weren’t at their apartment. Then later in another part of town, we saw them in their car so we followed them. It was hilarious. We weren’t able to catch them, without being psycho, but we know where their daughter lives now. Then we ate some delicious pasta at Edith’s that night for New Years.
On Saturday we had an amazing lesson with Reina, but this time we met her husband and 20 year old son, Fernando. We are stoked about this family. The husband might be more into it than Reina, which rarely happens, at least from my experience. He has a ton of Mormon friends. In fact, when they built the temple in Juarez, he went to the open house TWICE! We were so happy when we left the lesson and we really felt like they understood it. He even came to church like he said he would. We were so surprised because his wife and son didn’t come.

We were able to have a lesson on Wednesday with Loren before we
left for Albuquerque. It went all right. She has had so many answers and
spiritual experiences, but is not willing to give up a few things in her life.
We will see what happens.
MLC was fantastic! This time I drove to Albuquerque, because of
Sister Fallentine’s back. I have been driving for about a week or two now. I
feel like I know the area pretty well for only being here six weeks and our
area is huge. One of the areas in our ward just got closed, so we just got a
ton of new area to cover! What was so neat about MLC this time is that we were
a part of setting the new mission goal for the year. It was a very spiritual
experience and let me tell you, our mission president is one of the most
inspired men I have met. I love him. I love Sister Miller so much too. We had a
separate little meeting with her to talk about the sisters in the mission.
OH YES! The night we drove to Albuquerque! First of all we all
stopped at Texas Roadhouse for dinner and then we got into Albuqueque about 30
minutes before the other sisters would be home. We decided to go and see
Soledad. It was amazing! She was so happy to see me! J And she is a funny one. She goes out with
the sisters sometimes, but she kept telling me “Hermana, I have learned a lot
since you left…I am going to the temple to do the baptism for my mom.” It was
literally one of the happiest moments I have had on my mission. I was just so
happy to see her so happy and to see her still going so strong. She said she
has called a ton of her friends about her new church!
We put together a training for zone training the next day. We did
a hilarious role play with the help of Sister Boothe (she is a senior missionary).
Love her! It turned out really great I think. We talked about communication and
interpersonal skills. Then we went to the nastiest pizza buffet called Peter
Piper. I might hate this place as much as I do Golden Corral. JOn Saturday we had an amazing lesson with Reina, but this time we met her husband and 20 year old son, Fernando. At Miguelito's baptism- a little boy in our ward.
Anyway, before I talk about that I have to tell you HOW nervous I
was for transfer news. I have been having dreams for weeks about it. I think
just because I love my companion and my area SO much right now. Anyway, at
about 10:15 we got the call Saturday night. I was nauseous from being so
nervous. Then Elder Foulk told me, “Hermana Nye you are staying…and Hermana Fallentine…..you
are staying!” We freaked out!!! It was such a happy night. I am so grateful to
be able to spend another six weeks with this girl. We get along so well and
have so much potential this transfer. J
Sunday was such a great day! Our schedule changed, so we know
start services at 12:30pm instead of 9am. Let me tell you why I love this. We
now have time to go stop by all of our investigators and less actives and make
sure they are coming to church. J We loved it! We stopped by a ton, and like I said earlier,
Rudolpho came to church. Our golden, solid Maria couldn’t come, because of work
but is still on for the 18th of January for her baptism. Once again,
I played the piano. It was super awkward for the sacrament hymn so I had to
keep playing it, because they weren’t done breaking the bread. The men on the
stand were not very clear on bobbing their head meant yes they were done or yes
I needed to keep playing…kind of comical. I ended up playing more than I needed,
but it ended up being ok. Our investigator Rudolpho is also SUPER, SUPER solid J We have so much going on!
Yesterday was Hermana Fallentine’s birthday. I got up at 6am and
made her a sign. You just can’t do a ton when your companion is with you 24/7.
I wanted her to have a few surprises so I also planned a little something with
the elders. They took our keys and decorated the car with snowflakes (her
favorite) and red velvet cheesecake (also her fav). We had a delicious dinner
to break our fast at the Roman’s, but before that we had a little surprise in
the kitchen at the church. The cute Diaz family planned a little surprise as
well. We had some cake there and they gave us a pie to take home. We had Chile
relleno. It was delicious! That stuff is my favorite!
Red velvet cake and snowflakes!
Elder Rosales got Elder Foulk good!
Another cake!
After that we had a fantastic lesson with Sandra…oh my heck I
haven’t even talked about Sandra. We received a referral from the University
sisters. It ended up being SUCH a solid referral. There is a mom, Sandra, two
daugthers, Sandra and Cyntia (22 and 18), and two little boys, Joel and Edwin
(11 and 5), and the Dad, Joel. This family is fantastic! Sandra was so open to
us. The first time we taught them it was only Sandra, Cyntia, and the two
little boys. They loved the lesson. The mom and Cyntia were both crying like
crazy. Then last night we stopped by again and Sandra, the 22 year old
daughter, was there. We hadn’t met her yet. It was also an amazing lesson. We
had the most perfect fellowship with us, cute Marisol (she looks like Selena
Gomez and is 21). It was perfect! Then we ended off the night visiting our
solid Maria. We taught her about repentance and a few other things. I just love
what I get to do. This is the best way to live. I have never been so happy for
other people in my life!
