Takis and New Cars!

It is already week six of the transfer and I can’t believe it! Next week P-day will be on Monday, so don’t forget to write me early. :)
The cutest little family moved into our ward. They came from Kansas. The mom just got baptized in December. The father has been a members since 2004, but has been less active. They are young and have really cute kids. They will be a great addition to the branch. Their little twins are kind of a little evil and were spitting all over us the first time we met them (they are about two), but other than that, adorable!

I am almost Mexican...have to put Takis on everything!  Love them! :)
Wednesday we had the best zone conference ever! It was all about teaching simply. They always do a slide show of all the baptisms that had happened since the last conference and seeing pictures of Sister Fallentine and it made me miss her a lot! She goes home so soon. It is so weird.
Anyway, the meeting was about teaching simply and “getting out of the boat.” President Miller used some analogies to water skiing at home as well as the story of Peter walking on water. It was awesome. During one of the breakout sessions, the zone leaders did a training and also did a role play in front of us. They did great and then asked for feedback and wanted things they could improve on. I told them some really nice things and then said something about how a lot of missionaries forget to be happy when they are teaching. They think it all has to be so serious. If the gospel really makes you happy, then you should be happy when you share it! Anyway, President Miller really liked what I said in the breakout and made reference to it a few times!
We got a new car this week! It had 18 miles on it when we got it. It is a 2014 Toyota Corolla. It is super fancy. I have never driven a car with so few miles.

The Father’s Day activity was a hit! Miguel, his daughters, his niece, and mother all came. The girls sang with some of the girls in the branch. They sang, “Como mi papa” and a couple of songs from Frozen. It was absolutely adorable. The girls are progressing so much. We have a lot of work to do with the dad, but we are getting there. The Relief Society President called us that night and thanked us for helping her out so much. This woman is amazing! She has four adorable, very busy daughters. I just don’t know how she does all she does.

Ana, Jorge, Isabel, and Oscar are going to do baptisms in the temple this week! I wish I could go with them. It was so exciting telling Ana all about it. I would love to be there when she goes through the temple. Ana, Isabel, and Jorge’s little brother Carlitos is doing fantastic! HE is so excited to get baptized. :)

I really related to a verse I read in the scriptures this morning. It is in Alma 13. Alma is preaching the heck of the town and says, “ And now, my brethren, I wish from the inmost part of my heart, yea, with great anxiety even unto pain, that ye would hearken unto my words, and cast off your sins, and not procrastinate the day of your repentance.” I literally have felt sick and anxiety for people when they don’t progress. This is the most important work that we can be a part of. Share the gospel and teach people the things that they will be judged by. Btw, I am loving Alma…I thought Jacob was my favorite book in the Book of Mormon, then it was Mosiah, and now I am loving Alma more than ever.

It is time to head out now. We are going to eat samples at Costco and play games in the park!  Love you!

  1. It seems like your group is very welcoming. I'm glad that you have acquired new members and that the zone conference was a success. It's great that you seem to be enjoying your time with zone leaders as well. Anyway, that looks like a very fancy car. I love the color. The photo of you with the new Toyoto Corolla collaborates well because the colors of the car and your top match really well. Take care driving! :)
