The Never-Ending BBQ
This week was a slow and hard one, but it has really made me
appreciate the weeks we have tons of willing members to help us and healthy
bodies to do the work. This week I got sick. I woke up in the middle of the night
on Tuesday and was on the verge of throwing up all night. It was horrible! I
woke up Hermana Gubeli and then realized she couldn't do anything for me so I
told her to just go back to bed, haha. I just really wanted my mom.
Anyway, that morning was awful during studies. Then the elders came over and gave me a blessing. They told us to stay in for at least the afternoon. That was the HARDEST afternoon of my life. It is really miserable to be sick as a missionary. It really is. Anyway, I sucked it up and decided to go out at night. Of course I didn't put make-up on and sweet Isabel (Ana's sister) said, “There is something different about you tonight. Oh, you don't have make-up on!” J She is the cutest!
Yesterday they had us over for lunch. At first we thought it
was bbq. They fed us hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, soda, and hot dogs with bacon
(something they eat a lot in Chihuahua). Then she comes over with a full plate of
enchiladas, beans, and rice. I thought she was kidding! I was already so
stuffed! Once I tried the enchiladas, I decided I wasn't stuffed anymore. :)
THEN she came over with a plate of carne asada. I don't know why they didn't
tell us about the all the food at the beginning. Instead, they did this three
course meal thing. The funny thing is that our dinner was at four that day, so
we literally went from their house to dinner. I was SO full yesterday. Thank
goodness it was all such good food!

Isabel's daughter with her Dora piƱata!
On Monday we went to the stake center to ball it up. The stake
president was there and to say this in the most humble way, I was kind of on
fire! J
It was awesome! All the elders were pretty bad anyway. They want to play again
today and I am not quite sure why. There is this awesome sister in the mission
who played college ball. I can't WAIT to be in her zone, so we can play on P-
days. I keep waiting and waiting. Anyway…hope that didn't sound super prideful!
On Tuesday we had exchanges, and Sister Morris came to stay
with me! I LOVE her. She is from Utah and I just get along with her really
well. We did service that morning at an investigator's home. We helped her
clean. We couldn't believe how many bugs and nasty things we found. We are
truly blessed. Then we decided to go eat lunch at the Flying Star Cafe. It is
super close to our house and delicious! I will be taking you there when we come
back here. That night we had yummy flautas at Hermana Olivas' house. I love
her! She is so spunky and cute. Hermana Terrazus is also a cutie. She came out
with us after dinner. She is learning English and was super funny. She kept saying stuff in English with funny
accents on purpose. That day was interesting as well, because Sister Morris
doesn't know Spanish. Good times!
Me with a ton of eggs. All the other sisters think it is
funny how many eggs I eat. I just think they are a good source of protein! :)
Oh, and Dad hates them so I thought it would be funny!
On Thursday at the church we had our Bible Study again.
There were these psycho flying ants outside. I was so scared of them. I thought
I was getting more used to bugs until that day. I hate bugs that can fly I
think.
On Friday we had Zone Conference. I was asked to sing and
decided to sing, "How Great Thou Art." That was so much fun. I hadn't
realized how much time it had been since I had sang. I really miss it! Anyway,
I did a Spanish and English arrangement of it. On the way to zone conference we
almost died. Manuel (a 65 year old recent convert) drove us. He was out of
control. He pulled out into a busy street and almost killed us. The whole time
yellingm "No tengan miedo...no tengan miedo." (don't have
fear...don't have fear). That was super scary, but super funny now for some
reason. He calls Sister Wilcoxson Barbie and me a princess. He is a cutie.
That night we had a crazy appointment with Elsa Aragon. We
hadn't gone by in a long time and decided to see them. Agustin, the husband, is
SOOO mean. When he saw it was us he made so much fun of us and was being so
disrespectful. Elsa is in Alma 50 in the Book of Mormon and totally gets
everything. She just has a controlling husband. Don't be confused, we have two
Elsas with controlling husbands.
I don't have time to give all the details, but I can't believe
how much I felt the Holy Ghost working through me. I was speaking some of the
best Spanish I have ever spoken and I was being very bold. I guess it was what
he needed, because I felt very prompted to say what I did.
Well the Spirit is real and Heavenly Father is preparing
people like crazy! I love the Lord and am happy to be in this area at this
time. Love and miss you all!
