AWESOME!
This week was AWESOME!
It is really starting to get cool, especially at night. Something super
exciting about this week was finding 10 new investigators. Nine of them we actually taught, and one we
haven't taught yet, but is GOLDEN!
Route 66!
On Monday night, we had such a sweet Family Home Evening
with Ana and Isabel and their family. We had them all write their testimonies
in copies of the Book of Mormon to give to our investigators. We played a fun
scripture charades game. And then, of course...we ate! :) I know I say this
every week, but I LOVE this family. They both speak extremely fast, but are
some of my best friends. Isabel cut off all of her long, gorgeous hair and
donated it. She still looks amazing of course. Jorge was the funniest I have
ever seen him be. He is usually so quiet and reserved, but he had no problem
jumping out of his shell for our game.
Tuesday was the first day we had without our second hour of
companionship study, or 12 week hour. Because Sister Gubeli is technically
trained now, we only study for three hours in the morning. I have been loving
our language studies lately, because we are teaching each other a certain
principle that we are working on and we are both improving a lot more.
Tuesday night when the sisters dropped us off at a bus stop,
Sister Gubeli and I were laughing and crying at the same time because it was so
cold, haha. :) It was kind of like the same thing I did when Ness and Ash were
carrying me out of the ocean when I stepped on sea urchin in Hawaii. That night
ended up being such an awesome night though! The bus was super late and our plans were kind
of ruined, so we decided to stop by Marta and Leo. They are friends of some
members. Earlier in the summer we tried teaching her but she was SOOO COLD to
us...soooo cold. Then two weeks ago we went by and she let us come in and teach
her kids. She wasn't there for the lesson, she had to leave, but her husband
came in and asked us a ton of questions. We were talking about baptism. They
got to a Christian church and are REALLY awesome people. Leo told us that he
had a really great boss when they lived in Arizona who was Mormon and they
have really only had good experiences with them.
So back to Tuesday night, we decided to stop by, not having
any clue what was going to happen. It was so perfect! They let us come in and
fed us oreos (my favorite thing ever) and then we talked to them. Marta opened
up about a dream she had about us. We were teaching people in her dream. She
doesn't know what it means, but to them, dreams are very special. Then they
gave us a ride home! Later as we talked
to their member friends, Julia (the mom) goes on to tell us that she had made a
special fast for that family that day. How amazing is that! Heavenly Father is
definitely guiding our paths.
The next day we decided to fast for them as well. We stopped
by again the other day and Marta just started crying about how much she loves
us and thinks what we are doing is amazing. She feels like she needs to take
care of us while we are away from our families in the dangerous city. I started
crying too, because I just love the girl and then we talked about why we are
here on this earth...to have joy. When I asked her that, she didn't have an
answer. I think she realizes that we have answers to questions she has. I am
very excited for this sweet family in the coming months.
Alfredo came to church! So, he will be getting baptized next
weekend! We taught him about tithing and
are reading with him out of the picture book, Book of Mormon. He is
remembering a ton and loving it.
Refugio quit drinking coffee so she can be baptized the
weekend after Alfredo! Her daughter Maria still needs to quit smoking, but she
told us that on the day of Refugio's baptism, she will tell us when she will
get baptized. She knows everything and believes it is true, but addictions are
really hard to quit.
Oliver and Gloria: We didn't have a lesson with them this
week but stopped by on Saturday and gave them The Testaments to watch together.
Oliver is SUPER excited about everything is learning. He always tells us of new videos he has seen
of the prophet and other church videos. He is asking off work to be able to
come to church.
Last night we had a very sweet experience at the bus stop.
We had forgotten that the busses stop running on Sunday nights so we were
waiting for a member to come pick us up. This super cute lady, Soledad, came up
to us with tons of groceries. We started talking and realized she speaks
Spanish. She had to walk home because she forgot as well that the busses don't
work. We told her that we would ask our member if they wouldn't mind giving her
a ride home and she was so sweet about it. When the members came, of course
they said it was ok. Soledad got in the car with us and we drove to her house
which is totally in our area. She kept saying that she doesn't think we met by
coincidence...that God put us in her path! We are so excited to go back and
visit her! She gave us croissants and she has a cat that looks like Biebs. It
is a match made in heaven. :)
At the bus stop!
Thank you for all the prayers, so happy Jax is doing better.
I sure love that kid. :)
