Spiritually Fed
First off, conference was incredible! I tried to watch it
from the perspective of an investigator and the prophet and apostles really
rocked it. I don't think ANYONE could watch it without knowing that these men
are called of God. I don't have my notes right here with me, but I just
absolutely love hearing President Monson talk about his wife. Dallin H. Oaks
was so straight forward and I loved that! I am mad I don't have my notes, but I
am sure you all watched it and know that it was awesome too! :)
This week was just wonderful....absolutely wonderful! I see
the hand of the Lord in every aspect of missionary work- finding, teaching, and
inviting. This last Monday night, our plans fell through for an FHE, so we went
finding. We decided to stop and say a really heart felt prayer and then we
knocked on a door we felt inspired to knock on. This cute 19 year old let us in
and let us teach her and her mom. It was incredible! The Lord truly blesses us.
This 19 year old, Adriana, is pregnant with her first baby. She is really fun
and cute! Her mom is also adorable, but has a lot of men problems. She might be
a little flakey, we can't decide. She was super cute when we gave her a Book of
Mormon though. She said, "I don't have any money, not even a dollar. I
can't take this!" She was super cute about it!
We had another lesson with one of my very first
investigators on my mission...sweet Elsa. She is just the sweetest. Even though
we hardly go by with her anymore because of her husband, she is still reading
the Book of Mormon. Her kids treat her like crap and it breaks my heart. The
lesson we had with her this week was so spiritual. She was telling us how much
she loved us and how much she has learned and grown. I was bawling. I know she will be in the
Celestial Kingdom. It just breaks my heart that someone would infringe on
someone else's agency like that. Her husband wouldn't even let her come to our
FHE last night. Anyway, some missionaries in the future will be able to be a
part of her baptism. I just know it! She says that she would be baptized if she
could. She knows that everything we tell her is the truth. I told her I would
keep in touch with her no matter what and that I will come and visit her when I
come back after my mission.
Raul at FHE. He has literally come to church seven or eight
times and loves what we have to teach him. But, he is still saying, "Soy
catolico." He came to General Conference and loved it. FHE was
perfect with this family, because they are both converts and could really
relate. Such a fun night for sure :)
We found another sweet lady named Teresa by chance. She said
the missionaries used to teach her but she is NOWHERE in the area book. Sorry
to generalize here, but that is what happens when elders serve in an area for a
long time, haha. :) I will let you know what happens with her this week.
Erlinda is doing FANTASTIC! She finally opened up to us! Her husband is abusive and we had the perfect lesson with her. We took Hermana Castillo who (little did we know) is the exact same age and had the exact same problems. She got out of that situation and is so strong. It was perfect for Erlinda to see. Erlinda kept telling us that she just feels so alone all the time, but when we come over, she feels peaceful and happy. She kept crying that she believes what we are saying is true!

Lupita was also an awesome lesson this week! We got lds.org up on her computer as we left and showed her
how to watch videos and her cute daughter told us that after we left she was looking
at them! How exciting!
Oliver was the exciting story from last week. He has been avoiding us after looking up
anti-Mormon stuff online. Once we cleared the air, he still wanted to meet with
us! In fact we are doing a church tour tonight!
Refugio is our really old investigator. He is reading in Alma and is getting baptized
in two weeks! Transfers are in a week,
so I will be sad if I am leaving because there is so much that is going to
happen next transfer.
This weekend was so spiritual...holy cow! With Zone
Training, General Conference, and then the temple on Monday I feel very
spiritually fed. After our session on Monday, the mission president gave us a
devotional in the sealing room. That was so special. I just love our mission
president and his wife. They are so caring and real.
Random thoughts: why are church buildings so cold!?! I knew
it would be during conference so I brought a full on blanket to keep me warm.
:) Did anyone catch the fly that flew on
that one guys face? I can't remember his name right now but I may have giggled
a little.
We had dinner at a wedding at the church and when it was
starting the bishop forgot to get someone to lead the music. As the intro was playing, he was pointing at
me and mouthing "LEAD!" I got
up and lead a very off-pitch hymn for a wedding. So I guess I got to be part of
that wedding ! :)
Balloon Festival in Albuquerque!
Super fun week! Love
you all! Keep hastening the work. We are all responsible in helping!
