MTC: Week 4

FAM AND FRIENDS!

Thank you so much for all the letters, emails, and pictures! Before I forget, make sure everyone knows that when I leave the MTC, make SURE they send letters to New Mexico. After a week of leaving the MTC, they won't forward the letters on.

There are just three of us in our room right now!

Dad, the cat video was just what I needed! :) SO CUTE! And OH MY HECK! Nessa is pregnant! I knew it would happen, just didn't know when! :) Mom, so happy Sarah Dodds is doing so well!

So yesterday, we got to host (remember that sweet red head who helped me when you dropped me off)?. Anyway, my district did the hosting yesterday. Guess who arrived? Kelsi Bangerter! I can't believe how many of my sweet junior miss girls are on missions! It has been so fun seeing Katherine Christensen too.   Hosting was a very sweet experience-I may have shed a tear or two as I watched missionaries get dropped off. I am glad that it wasn't too hard for me at the drop off. I think it is because I have been away at school for so long.

District on hosting day

We played kickball the other day and one of the elders in the new district decided that the game was really competitive. I was playing second base (just like the old softball days) and he SLID into me on one of the first plays of the game! What?!? It hurt so badly! It is all good now though. :)

This week was so fun seeing more friends from BYU-I. I see my friend Megan Peterson all the time, because we have class on the same floor of the same building. We played lacrosse together last fall.

Still haven't broken the bball record yet! I got 8 3's in a row the other day. It is hard though, because you only get one chance a gym period and so if you are off right then, you are done for. My district calls me "La Pellotadora," or the baller. :)

We did these language assessments and I got mine back. The evaluator told me that he doesn't usually see my level of Spanish that early. He said he rarely gives advice to work on subjunctive, so that was exciting! I got to teach with one of the elders in my district. That was so fun, because I am always in a trio with hermanas. He is one of the better Spanish speakers in the class!

Companions!

Sister Hadlock from BYU-I

There is a secret room in one of the bathrooms in the main building with two single beds, a mirror, and a TV. Sometimes it is locked...one of these days I will get a pic in it. I am pretty sick of the food-I will be honest. The church really does do a lot to accommodate everyone though. I just miss cooking my own food. We got some pizza from the "outside world" the other day.  It was wonderful!

My district was also chosen to usher the other day for devotional. There were only two districts doing it so it was a fun experience. Ok, last funny thing. There is an elder in one of the other districts in my zone....so weird! He LOVES cats, but doesn't have any. Anyway, he had these ridiculous stickers with cats on them by lamps and stuff. Well, the other day I was joking around with him and I decided to meow at him and guess what- he meowed back! Actually, he meows back every time and EVERYONE dies laughing! The funny thing is that he is serious about it! He is the weirdest cat boy I have ever met haha.

Spiritual Notes:

So I am still working on finishing the Book of Mormon before I leave. It seems like we have less and less time for everything, but I am really going to try and get it done. I have never read through it so quickly. It makes all of the stories so much easier to understand. Also, we pray SO MUCH! It is awesome. One day, I am going to count how many times we pray- I would imagine close to 25 or 30. I am thinking that two prayers a day when I get back won't be enough. :)

We had another awesome devotional the other night. His last name was Zwick and he helped build the Portland, Oregon temple. It made me think about Kurt. Anyway, he had some great analogies about construction and the gospel. Did you all know that it now takes 6 members of the quorum of the 12 to assign mission calls each week? And how sweet was Sister Monson's funeral? I couldn't believe how old President Monson looked- such a sweet man though. It has been so cool to have teaching experiences here where I feel like I am being edified just as much as my investigators. Believe me, we have had some bad teaching experiences too. :)

Love you all! Thanks for the letters!
