New Companion!
This week was SOOO GREAT! I love my new companion Sister Venegas to pieces. She is
adorable. J She did so great this
week. She was born in Mexico but basically grew up in Fresno, California, and
so she already knows Spanish. I actually got to take her out contacting
before she became my companion. The day they are in the mission home, we help
take out some of the new missionaries. It was super fun, and she rocked it!
We met some very interesting people this week contacting, one man made
us put suntan lotion on our hands…it was disgusting, but I feel like as a
missionary, you just can’t say no. We met some little girls who sang a
song to us about digging a hole and PUSHING the devil in. There may or may not
have been a guy literally going to the bathroom by a dumpster (the things that
happen in Albuquerque). I am telling you this week was nuts, but also awesome.
Our investigator Julie is doing fantastic! The last time we read with
her she was totally getting it. After she gets back from Mexico we will be
taking some big steps toward baptism with her. Even though Miguel and his
little girls moved in the other ward, they still showed up at church. We had
already passed them off to the other missionaries. It was fun to see them! J
Something I love about my new companion is that she is down to do
anything with me. She even does my same workouts with me in the morning. J I love her! A funny
trick that was played on her was that our district leader called to “set up
exchanges” with us. Sister Venegas would be taking over the area and Elder
Knight would be with her. It was hilarious. She kept saying, “Exchanges with an elder?” I
couldn’t keep it going for too long.
Magdalena was the first person we talked to on Saturday and she let us
teach her. She is about 80 years old, but is so with it. She is fantastic! She
also has testigos coming over but she doesn’t like it. She loves plants and was
talking about them a ton. Her front porch area is so cute and nice. There is a
huge tree that covers the entire front and makes it so shady. We taught her the
Restoration of the gospel and she accepted the baptismal invitation. It wasn’t
a super solid yes, but she still didn’t say no. J Then we went to dinner with Ana. While
Ana finished getting ready, we taught little Carlitos with Jorge. Carlitos
remembered everything from the last lesson! It was so stinking cute. He really
soaks everything in. He reminds me of Hollister.
Deiri and Brandon are getting baptized next weekend! They are doing
awesome! We went to dinner at Chic-fil-a
with Ana. One of the little workers there is LDS. She gave us a huge welcome.
Plus there were some people visiting from out of town who are also members who
said hi to us. Ana is doing fantastic.
Sunday
was a beautiful day! We got to church early, which was good because we were
able to get a lot of things done. Deiri was there early with Jumalay and they
were so cute. Then we spent some time talking with Pedro, one of the
investigators of the elders. He is quite the talker. Miguel and his daughters
showed up! That was such a nice surprise. We didn’t even invite them, because
we had handed them off to the elders of Rio Grande. Miguel ended up dropping
off his girls to watch a soccer game. Well he missed out because sacrament
meeting was incredible! Isabel, Oscar, Ana, and Jorge all spoke. They talked about
their conversion stories as well as la obra misional. It was amazing! I LOVE
THIS WORK!
