Service and Baptisms
This week was incredible! The greatest miracles were the baptism of
Deiri and Brandon. Carlitos’ baptismal date got pushed forward too! YAY! His mom also wants to go to the temple. There
have just been crazy miracles all over the place.
Well last week, we were sitting doing weekly planning and that morning
had been talking about how not too many people let us do service for them.
Anyway, as we were planning I saw a guy out of the corner of my eye through the
window carrying stuff out to his car. I thought he was just going to take a
couple of loads, but then he just kept doing it. I commented to Hermana Venegas
and then we both just knew what to do! J We ran and put service clothes on to help him!
He is from Argentina and was moving back to California with his cute wife and
little boy. They had to move out all of their things really quickly! They were
so glad we came to help. We even found someone to come and take their mattress.
We helped them for quite a while. Turns out that he has some Mormon friends and
knew the missionaries in California. They trusted us so much that they had us
turn in their keys the next day for them…and gave us his car keys. They then
bought us a pizza from Pizza 9, we took pics, he said, “2 baptisms on Facebook,
huh?” it was hilarious. We think he has had quite a bit of contact with
missionaries and has had good experiences.
So the baptism of Deiri and Brandon. There were a few set backs, but they
did it! They showed up nice and early. But Deiri didn’t want to get dressed
until right before. Deiri got very emotional as her uncle gave the first talk.
Then the baptismal ordinance. It was the most spiritual and beautiful baptism I
have ever witnessed. He said the prayer so perfectly and did the baptism so slowly.
We had to give the talk on the Holy Ghost because the lady who was supposed to
couldn’t. The lady for the refreshments texted us saying that she couldn’t
come. Then we also had planned with Raul to pick up Olivia, but we don’t know
what happened. We decided that we might take care of a few of these things next
time. J President Bleak was so great though. We celebrated at Chic-fil-at
afterwards.
Another great miracle is Carlitos. He is Ana and Isabel’s little
brother. He is now getting baptized sooner than we thought AND his mom now
wants to get baptized too! J We are so excited!
Well,
we should be doing lots of dodge ball and bball today so I am excited! I sure
love this and hate that it is coming to an end. These last months are going to
be amazing. I am so grateful for this amazing time I have had to represent the
Lord.

Hey Nate and family! How are things going? I am just sitting here next to Kristina Nye at the library emailing, and I thought I would email you guys! Oh man, Sis. Nye is honestly one of the best missionaries in this mission - she does a great job! She is training a missionary named Hermana Venegas right now, and they are doing SUPER AWESOME! I get to be Hermana Nye's zone leader right now, so I always get to check up on her and see how she is doing. The best part, though, is that she DOMINATES at basketball! She is definitely the best sister at basketball in the mission, and she is better than 80% of the elders too, haha!Everything else is going REALLY WELL here in Albuquerque! I am loving it here, and I look forward to being able to continue to serve the Lord. I hope everything is going well for you guys back in Idaho. Elder Pope
